MUHSEN is a nonprofit organization serving families and individuals with intellectual, mental, and physical disabilities. MUHSEN works to establish inclusive and accessible North American Muslim communities for individuals with disabilities and their families. We do this through engaging in community advocacy and education (Awareness) and implementing and encouraging programs and services (Accommodation), leading ultimately to inclusive and welcoming communities (Acceptance).

The MUHSEN Good Day Support Staff will play a vital role in advancing the development of MUHSEN Good Day, a first-of-its-kind young adult day program. This individual will be expected to work alongside other staff members to implement participant goals and provide one-to-one care for individuals with disabilities. Other responsibilities include participating in outings and assisting in activities.

This position requires a commitment of approximately 18-20 hours per week.

• Provide one to one care for participants with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to assisting with activities, outings, toileting, and eating.
• Personalized goal tracking:
  Staff must work with identified participants, the lead, their family/guardians, and support staff to identify goals and personalized plans that will be worked on during program hours.
• Accurately complete daily documentation, including attendance, incident reports, and progress notes.
• Assist the lead with setting up and cleaning up.
• Must be willing to transport participants to and from community outings if needed
• Respond appropriately to challenging behaviors using de-escalation and behavior support strategies
• Attend monthly staff meetings/trainings
• Provide one to one care for participants with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to assisting with activities, outings, toileting, and eating.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working or volunteering with people with disabilities
• Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with special needs
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong knowledge of the Muslim community.
• Strong knowledge of working within the disability and special education fields
