Job DescriptionBilling Head is responsible for overseeing the overall billing operations of the hospital and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for all patient services. The manages billing staff, monitors charge capture, coordinates with clinical, insurance, TPA, and finance teams, resolves billing issues, and supports revenue accuracy and financial controls.
- Manage overall OPD, IPD, diagnostic, procedure, and other hospital billing activities.
- Supervise and guide billing executives and billing staff.
- Ensure accurate capture of all billable services, procedures, medicines, and consumables.
- Review patient bills for completeness and accuracy.
- Coordinate with clinical departments for verification of service charges.
- Coordinate with insurance and TPA teams regarding billing and claim requirements.
- Monitor pending, unbilled, disputed, and outstanding accounts.
- Review discounts, refunds, adjustments, and credit billing as per approved policies.
- Monitor daily billing collections and reconciliation.
- Identify billing discrepancies and potential revenue leakage.
- Coordinate with accounts and finance departments for billing reconciliation.
- Resolve escalated patient and departmental billing queries.
- Monitor final billing and discharge settlement processes.
- Prepare billing MIS, collection reports, and performance reports.
- Establish and monitor billing controls and standard procedures.
- Support internal, external, insurance, and financial audits.
- Train and guide billing staff on hospital billing procedures and SOPs.
- Monitor billing turnaround time and team performance.
- Implement billing process improvements and corrective actions.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient and financial information.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable financial and billing requirements.
