We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sign Language Translator to ensure inclusive communication for individuals with hearing disabilities across our programs. The translator will provide accurate, impartial, and professional interpretation between sign language and spoken language(s) in real-time, using both consecutive and simultaneous techniques. The Sign Language Translator also support program accessibility by interpreting during sessions, adapting training materials, and working with the outreach team to engage the deaf community.
This role contributes directly to creating an inclusive, respectful, and empowering environment for all beneficiaries.
ShareQ, through its Pro Abled Academy, is seeking an experienced Sign Language Translator to enhance accessibility and promote inclusive communication for individuals with hearing disabilities. The translator will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective participation of deaf individuals in employment training, coaching, and work integration activities. The role is key in fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring equal access to opportunities for all beneficiaries.
Responsibilitiesand main duties:
- Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between sign language and spoken language(s) in real-time, using both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation techniques.
- Support in programs and trainings by sign language interpreting sessions and making materials accessible.
- Support the outreach team by connecting with the deaf community through translated content and awareness efforts.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, respecting the privacy and autonomy of individuals.
- Stay updated on best practices, ethical standards, and advancements in the field of sign language interpretation through ongoing professional development and training.
- Bachelor’s degree in sign language interpretation, or related field preferred.
- Basic office:
Excel, word and Power Point - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English language.
- Previous experience in NGOs or recruitment companies is a plus.
