Position Summary

Director, Facilities is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of all facilities-related functions across the organization. This role oversees space utilization and allocations, office buildouts, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, lease administration and negotiations, and vendor management. This position ensures operations support business growth, compliance, employee safety, and operational excellence while maintaining cost efficiency and high service levels.

Key Responsibilities Facilities Strategy & Operations
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities strategy aligned with organizational growth plans.
  • Oversee daily facilities operations for office and related spaces.
  • Lead space planning and workplace optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure infrastructure supports current and future business needs.
  • Establish and monitor facilities-related KPIs and service standards.
Capital Projects & Buildouts
  • Lead planning and execution of office buildouts, renovations, and expansions.
  • Manage capital budgets, project timelines, and contractor performance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define requirements and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Ensure all projects meet safety and quality standards.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Provide leadership and oversight for Global EHS programs, ensuring compliance and local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee audits, inspections, corrective actions, and incident investigations.
  • Manage lease agreements, renewals, extensions, and landlord relationships.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal on lease negotiations and contract reviews.
  • Support real estate strategy, including site selection and long-term footprint planning.
  • Monitor lease obligations, critical dates, and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with landlords to ensure third‑party vendors including property management, maintenance, janitorial, security, utilities.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage service‑level agreements.
Financial & Budget Management
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Forecast facilities-related expenditures and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Track and report on financial performance against budget.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on facilities planning and risk management.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive facilities management experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Experience managing office environments (biotech, pharma, life sciences preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Proven experience managing capital projects and buildouts.
  • Experience negotiating and managing commercial leases.
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFM, FMP, CHFM, CSP, CIH, LEED).
  • Experience in a publicly traded or high-growth organization.
  • Strategic thinking and planning.

The salary range for this position is $220,000 to $235,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to; skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location. Please note that the required compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits unless otherwise provided.
