This position is responsible for engaging a wide range of stakeholders—including volunteers, donors, media, and community organizations—to build awareness and support for organizational programs. The role involves volunteer coordination, event planning, public awareness campaigns, and fundraising activities.
What you’ll be doing :Volunteer Coordination & Engagement
- Maintain andupdate the volunteer handbook to ensure relevance and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers through in-person meetings,phone calls, emails, and written correspondence.
- Plan and coordinate volunteer recognition initiatives and assist with special events and outings.
- Ensure completion and currency of background checks and driver’s abstracts.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
- Recruit, train,and match volunteers to appropriate roles.
- Provide orientation and ongoing support to program volunteers.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and uphold confidentiality standards. Foster apositive, inclusive, and engaging volunteer experience.
- Organize special events, public awareness campaigns,and community engagement activities.
- Represent the organization at public events,networking opportunities, and community meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and organizations to support partnerships andsponsorships.
- Develop and distribute promotional materials and post social media content.
- Monitor social media and news coverage to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Assist in drafting proposals, grants, and media communications to support fundraising and program development.
- Support donor stewardship efforts, including recognition and engagement strategies.
- Assist in organizing fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
- Maintain records and produce reports on volunteer and donor activities.
- Post secondary education in communications, marketing,volunteer management, or other related field, plus a minimum of two years'experience in a relevant role. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in digital information technology system sand social media platforms.
- Proficiency in donor engagement and stewardship
- Proficiency in event planning, management and execution including working with volunteer committees and corporate partners.
- Proficiency in software and design programs (such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Word Press, Canva, Microsoft Office).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building abilities.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to solve problems with tact and discretion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- Ability to understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
Job Posting #:
Schedule: Full Time, Permanent, 37.5 hours/week. Monday-Friday.
Wage: Grid 12 ($29.17-$33.49)
