Registered Nurse
The Registered Nurse will work in a Progressive Care Unit. The nurse will have a patient ratio of 1:5. First-time travelers are welcome. Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required based on unit needs. Clinicians will float within their scope of practice to meet facility needs. This is a float pool position, and the nurse will not be assigned to a home unit.
Floating will occur between approximately five units, all Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU Departments and to other campuses as needed. The following skills are required:
- Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown.
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response are essential, including the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring on the unit is necessary.
- Pre/Post cardiac catheterization care experience is needed.
- Familiarity with sepsis, wound care, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, gastrointestinal bleeding, stroke, and COVID care is important. Preferred skills include:
- Sheath removal in cardiovascular care.
- Feeding tube care and management in gastrointestinal care.
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care/management. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of eight shifts every six weeks. Floating among departments, units, and facilities may be necessary. There are no restrictions on time off; however, the maximum permitted is seven days. This position requires compliance with various training and completion of necessary modules.
