Experience in emergency/trauma nursing with no less than 2 years in a level 2 trauma center. Knowledge of trauma care, STEMI care, stroke care, sepsis, and triage.
Description:
The emergency department features 24 beds. Patient ratios are 1:4. The unit staffing includes unit secretaries and tech availability for 21 hours a day. There are 5 core RNs scheduled from 10 AM to 10 PM. The type of equipment includes a Level 1 fluid warmer, GE monitor system, Artic sun, Lifepak, and Alaris pumps. The documentation system utilized is Meditech.
Staff is required to work every third weekend. The schedule may include mid-shifts starting as early as 10 AM and as late as 1 PM. Floating is rare, only occurring if other staff have been flexed home. Patient experience requirements include the use of AIDET, whiteboards, and maintaining a positive attitude. All nursing staff must adhere to the dress code, which consists of cobalt blue tops and solid black or cobalt blue pants, along with closed-toe shoes.
The unit performs all procedures associated with a level 2 trauma center.
