Registered Nurse
The position requires a registered nurse with a focus on PCU float duties. Ratios for patient assignments are 1:6. Experience in a related field is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be needed as required by the unit. Weekend requirements include 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling period. Key certifications include BLS and NIHSS, with ACLS being preferred.
Work settings involve Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/Intermediate Care Units. Required skills include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates must manage various patient conditions, such as heart failure, stroke, and seizures. Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication management is essential. Isolation precautions, wound care, and other professional skills are also necessary. Regular floating may occur among departments and units as needed.
The position is part of a float pool and does not have a designated home unit. Block schedule accommodations are not available. Locals are not accepted. On-call requirements do not apply. No specific radius restrictions are enforced. The canceled shifts must match the regular shift length assigned. Patients may present a variety of diagnoses, necessitating broad nursing competencies. The role requires familiarity with electronic charting systems.
Compliance with all required documentation and training is expected prior to the start of the assignment. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in managing both routine and complex nursing care scenarios.
