Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

Assignment Duration:
This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule:

Shift: 7A - 7P. Self-scheduling to include 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.

Job Description:

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients with moderate physiological instability. The RN will work within a team-oriented environment, delivering supportive care for patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy management. This unit specializes in cardiac and pulmonary monitoring and management.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor cardiac and respiratory status of patients, performing assessments every 2-4 hours.
• Administer oxygen therapy and other needed interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the Meditech system.
• Conduct vital signs assessments and blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours.
• Perform neurological monitoring as needed using NIHSS scale.
• Collaborate with health care team members to optimize patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Must possess valid RN license.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Experience in a telemetry or pulmonary step-down environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of coronary care and respiratory management principles.
