Veterinary Assistant

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player
• Flexible work style amidst shifting priorities; calm under pressure
• Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts
• Maintain an open mind regarding changes, be willing to learn and teach new protocols

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist Veterinarians and RVTs with surgical and dentistry procedures
• Ability to accommodate changes in work priorities and/or scheduling
• Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in all perioperative phases
• Clean and disinfect kennels, carriers, equipment, and facility
• Communicate in an effective and professional manner with clients
• Medical record keeping
• Fill prescriptions
• Perform laboratory work and assist with diagnostic imaging
• Follow written and verbally communicated standard operating procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Veterinary Assistant Physical and

Job Requirements:

• Routinely lift 40 pounds and perform daily strenuous activity including, but not limited to walking, carrying, squatting, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling on a consistent basis and for long periods of time, up to 10 hours per day.
• Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, sitting, arm, and hand motion.
• Exposure to dogs, cats and rabbits of all sizes, temperaments, and medical status.
• Able to work standing for 10 hours per day.

Work Hours: NO WEEKENDS! We offer an alternative work week: 4 day, 40 hour schedule. Monday-Thursday 6:45a-5:45p with a 1 hour lunch break. The hospital is closed Friday-Sunday and on holidays so you will have time to enjoy the things you love!

Position may require occasional flexibility and occasional overtime.
