Irrigation Technician Irrigation Technician Job Description
The Irrigation Technician must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of irrigation systems to include wiring controllers and valves, pressure testing, trenching/pulling pipe; installing heads, rotors, valves, operating equipment, ordering correct materials; and interfacing with customers, subcontractors, and architects, etc. Require minimal supervision and conduct all jobs in a safe manner and, if necessary, directing a crew of one other team member.
The Irrigation Technician must also attend to and complete all paperwork and administrative requirements related to the job while creating and maintaining a professional job atmosphere.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
- Minimum of two years of experience in irrigation services preferred.
- Thoroughly understands all aspects of irrigation systems as outlined.
- Able to operate company equipment: trenches, geo-ripper, wire locator, mini skid-loader, multimeter, pullers, trucks, tampers, etc.
- Able to perform daily preventative maintenance on company equipment.
- Able to read irrigation plans and drawings.
- Able to lay out the job site and order materials.
- Able to operate irrigation GPS locator system for controllers, valves, heads, rotors, etc.
- Ensures all jobs are kept on schedule and on budget.
- Able to interact with clients, subcontractors, etc. in a professional and competent manner.
- Able to work with minimal supervision but knows when to ask for assistance.
- Physically able to handle the workload of an Irrigation Technician.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis without assistance.
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns and other environmental risks.
- Wear work boots, company uniforms, and present yourself in a clean and professional manner.
- Must wear provided company personal protective equipment (PPE).
