We are seeking professional, reliable, compassionate, detail-oriented and experienced Medical Courier Drivers.
Job OverviewAs a vital part of a time‑sensitive, high‑security delivery operation, you will be responsible for the timely, safe, compliant, and secure pickup, transport, and delivery of critical medical items—including lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, medical records, supplies, and equipment—across healthcare facilities throughout Georgia.
This essential role supports hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, clinics, and home health agencies in delivering life‑saving materials. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, on‑time performance, and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Pickup and deliver medical items safely, efficiently, and punctually according to route schedules or on‑demand requests.
- Deliver packages with compassion and care.
- Handle deliveries with strict adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and medical handling protocols.
- Maintain temperature control and chain of custody requirements for all deliveries, including temperature‑sensitive or biohazardous materials.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Follow safety procedures, including cargo securement, hazmat handling (if certified), and emergency protocols.
- Safely operate your own insured, reliable vehicle while maintaining fuel efficiency and route optimization.
- Use mobile dispatching applications or other communication tools for real‑time tracking and updates.
- Communicate promptly, clearly, and respectfully with dispatch and clients regarding pick‑up/drop‑off times, delays, incidents, vehicle issues, or special instructions.
- Accurately complete delivery documentation, including digital signatures, required proof of delivery images, pickup/drop‑off logs, and compliance paperwork.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of the company while engaging with healthcare personnel.
- Handle packages with care to avoid injury or damage; lift packages with proper technique and ensure they are securely fastened during transportation.
- Perform daily pre‑trip, post‑trip, and safety inspections and report any issues immediately.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including wearing seat belts, obeying speed limits, right‑of‑way rules, and traffic signals.
- Ensure on‑time pickup and delivery of cargo as scheduled, maintaining strong communication with dispatch and the operations team.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must have no more than two moving violations in the past 24 months, no seat‑belt violation or cell‑phone driving violation in the past 12 months, and no DUI/DWI in the past five years.
- Pass a background check.
- Pass a DOT drug screening.
- Possess proper auto liability insurance: 100,000 per person / 300,000 per accident for bodily injury and 50,000 for property damage.
- Certifications and compliance: HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, OSHA, DOT;
Hazardous Materials certification if applicable;
Fraud, Waste and Abuse training if applicable; TSA compliance if applicable. - Own a smartphone.
- Own or lease a suitable vehicle with no major body damage.
- Prepared to lift weights up to 50 pounds or more and perform repetitive daily lifting of at least 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and time‑management skills.
- Ability to sit for extended periods during traffic.
- Ability to follow dispatch instructions and complete required training.
- Age 21 years or older.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Prepared to drive throughout Georgia.
- Reliable, well‑maintained vehicle (sedan, SUV, small van preferred; temperature‑controlled vehicle a plus).
- Excellent time‑management, customer service, and communication skills.
- Compliance with HIPAA and medical‑item handling procedures.
- Knowledge of Georgia geography, including metro and rural areas for efficient routing.
