To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.
Department Primary
Purpose:
Contribute to the efficient operation of a school support system and provide clerical services for school’s administrative staff.
Education/Certification: High School Graduate or GED
Knowledge/
Skills:
Demonstrate aptitude for the successful performance of the tasks assigned
Ability to type with reasonable accuracy a minimum of 45 words per minute
Proficient typing, word processing and file maintenance skills
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases
Knowledge of basic math
Ability to meet established deadlines
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Input student and other pertinent information into the computer.
- Assist in obtaining student information from permanent records and other school districts when necessary.
- Assist campus secretary in proving student information to teacher.
- File correspondence, invoices, cards, or other records in prescribed manner.
- Sort incoming material for file system in use.
- Classify and cross-index materials according to a standardized coding chart and label folders or envelopes with specified identification data.
- Locate and remove information as needed; maintain accurate student records.
- Clear files at designated intervals under counselor’s direction.
- Enter counselor logs into the district’s mainframe.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by counselor/administrator.
Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsRepetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Works with frequent interruptions, moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting.
