Position Overview
We are looking for a mission‑driven leader who has an unwavering belief in the limitless potential of all students and a proven track record of achieving strong outcomes as a teacher, while also coaching and developing other teachers to lead students to meet rigorous academic and social‑emotional goals through intervention and special education services. The Assistant Principal of Student Services leads the vision, implementation, and continuous improvement of special education and student support services on campus.
The Assistant Principal directs and facilitates supports for diverse learners, ensuring students receiving specialized services are served with excellence, compliance requirements are met with fidelity, and high‑quality Tier 2 and Tier 3 instructional practices are consistently implemented across classrooms.
- Driving the vision for the Student Services Team (short‑ and long‑term) and partnering with families, staff, and scholars to execute aligned strategies that accelerate progress toward Brillante’s ambitious goals for student achievement and character development for all students
- Coaching, managing, and developing the Student Services Team to deliver strong student outcomes, including progress toward IEP goals for students with diverse learning needs
- Leading the implementation of Brillante’s Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and using data to ensure all students receive the appropriate level of support and achieve measurable growth
- Executing student services systems and standard operating procedures with excellence to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements
- Developing and managing the day‑to‑day operational structures, service schedules, and caseloads needed to ensure effective implementation of special education services across the school
- Collaborating with teachers to design and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications aligned to IEPs, 504 plans, and intervention plans to ensure access to grade‑level content
- Serving as a thought partner to general education teachers by attending grade‑level meetings, analyzing student work and assessment data, and supporting instructional planning and classroom management strategies
- Conducting regular classroom observations, providing real‑time coaching, and delivering actionable feedback that strengthens instructional practice and drives student achievement
- Leading ongoing coaching cycles with special education teachers, including goal‑setting, data analysis, and progress monitoring
- Reviewing, providing feedback on, and ensuring the quality and compliance of IEPs, progress reports, and all special education documentation
- Serving as the LEA in ARD meetings, facilitating student‑centered conversations, and ensuring compliance while honoring families as partners and first educators
- Scheduling and coordinating ARD meetings, evaluations, and related service delivery, ensuring timelines are met and communication with families is clear and consistent
- Building strong relationships with families through proactive communication, sharing student progress, and providing resources to support learning at home
- Analyzing student‑level and school‑wide data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction, interventions, and supports accordingly
- Supporting the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic and behavioral interventions, including modeling small group, push‑in, and pull‑out instruction as needed
- Managing and aligning curriculum and intervention resources to ensure high‑quality instruction for students receiving specialized services
- Executing compliance systems and standard operating procedures, including maintaining trackers, overseeing documentation, and ensuring readiness for audits and reporting
- Overseeing annual reviews, reevaluations, and all compliance‑related timelines, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting (including PEIMS)
- Coordinating with related service providers (e.g., SLPs, LSSPs, OTs) to ensure aligned, high‑quality service delivery
