PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assists the school principal in the supervision of all the activities and personnel assigned within the school, providing instructional leadership with guidance and direction of the principal, coordinating assigned student services, and ensuring appropriate implementation of instructional guidelines and district policies to promote positive working relationships, while establishing a climate conducive to positive student learning and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Master's Degree or Higher
  • Valid Texas Mid-Management, Principal, or Assistant Principal Certificate (Standard)
  • T-TESS Certificate, ILD or AEL Certificate
  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
  • A minimum of one year Instructional Leadership experience - Instructional Assessment Strategist, Department Head/Chair, Coordinating Special Programs, Instructional Coach etc.
  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Instructional Management
  • Provides input in the coordination and evaluation of the school's instructional program.
  • Works with staff to plan, implement and evaluate the curriculum on a systematic basis.
  • Provides instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvement in the purpose, design, and implementation of the instructional program as well as other support programs related to the mission of the school.
  • Assists in the development of the master schedule of teaching assignments and course offerings.
  • School / Organizational Climate
  • Communicates and promotes high expectations for staff and student performance in an enabling, supportive manner.
  • Supports an environment that leads to a positive school climate.
  • Fosters collegiality and team building among staff, encouraging their active involvement in decision-making.
  • Mediates and facilitates effective resolution of staff, student, and parent conflicts in a timely fashion.
  • School/Organizational Improvement
  • Assists in determining and building a shared vision for school improvement, directs planning activities, and implements programs collaboratively with staff to ensure the attainment of the school's mission.
  • Assists in the improvement of the instructional program through campus visits, classroom observations, and departmental meetings.
  • Works closely with appropriate personnel to maintain and utilize resultant data, information systems, and records for overall school improvement efforts.
  • Personnel Management
  • Uses development supervision effectively and comprehensively with all staff by systematically observing instruction, recording observations, and regularly conducting formative and summative evaluation conferences according to TTESS guidelines.
  • Communicates with appropriate staff regarding their professional growth and identifies, provides, and/or encourages participation in available inservice training sessions to address the goals identified through the growth planning process.
  • Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
  • Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations, in pursuing the mission of the school.
  • Schedules and monitors activities and resources.
  • Assists in developing budgets based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs.
