Role Mission
IDEA Assistant Principals of Instruction (APIs) are instructional leaders who manage, coach, and develop teachers to achieve ambitious results with students. They monitor student progress to ensure all students are on‑track for college.
What We Offer CompensationTypical salaries range from $70,532 to $82,170, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

- Education:
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Experience:
At least 3 years of full‑time teaching experience. - Teacher leadership or administrative experience required.
- Proven track record of achieving success in the K‑12 setting.
- Experience managing/coaching others preferred.
- Knowledge of core academic subject and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
- Strong ability to coach teachers on curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability to diverse situations in the school environment.
- Ability to de‑escalate student behavior.

- Improve teaching through daily observations, coaching, data conversations, and evaluations.
- Supervise implementation of TEKS‑based IDEA curricula and assessments.
- Review teachers’ weekly lesson plans and provide feedback.
- Synthesize, analyze, and prioritize data to develop quantifiable strategies.
- Proactively identify improvement opportunities and reflect on decisions.
- Communicate student progress with students and families.
- Establish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
- Facilitate effective use of technology for communication, teacher development, and task management.
- Support the creation and implementation of a clear behavior management system.
- Shape a school‑wide culture that fosters a productive learning environment.
- Oversee campus‑based tutoring sessions.
- Participate in weekly manager check‑ins, grade‑level meetings, and school‑wide functions.
- Engage in summer and year‑long district, school, and personal learning and development.
- Commit to a minimum of 40+ hours at the school per week.
- Additional duties may include after‑school tutoring or Saturday school, as needed.
