Teaching Assistant

Position Overview

Teaching assistants are vital members of our team, and the role provides a valuable learning experience especially for those interested in becoming a lead teacher in the future.

• Support lead teachers in cultivating a joyful learning environment where every child feels safe, loved, and inspired to strive for and meet Brillante’s ambitious goals.
• Assist lead teachers in delivering exceptional, personalized instruction that results in meaningful student achievement and growth and character formation.
• Contribute to a vibrant school culture by living the Brillante mission and core virtues, consistently implementing school-wide systems for instruction, culture, and character development, frequently attending school-wide events, and championing our collective success.
• Build meaningful relationships through listening, seeking to understand the perspectives of others, communicating clearly, kindly, and often, and recognizing and celebrating the dignity of every student, family, and colleague.
• Continuously learn and improve practice through seeking and implementing feedback, collaborating deeply with others, engaging in data‑driven instruction and on‑going reflection, participating in professional development days, and utilizing strategies aligned to growth goals.

• Deliver small group instruction to provide individualized support.
• Prepare and deliver whole group lessons as assigned, with support from lead teacher.
• Assist in customizing lesson plans and activities to meet the needs of individual students.
• Support lead special education teacher with behavior management techniques and strategies.
• Track data as instructed by lead teacher.
• Help teachers with administrative duties that support instruction and student learning (attendance, material management and distribution, parent communication, student record keeping, operating technology, preparing lesson materials, making copies, etc.).
• Provide personal care services for students as needed.
• Physically assist students with academic, behavior, mobility, and self‑help skills.
• Demonstrate unwavering belief in the limitless potential of all students through actions.
• Participate in team meetings, check‑ins with manager, before and after school duties, and other school‑wide meetings and events.
• Monitor students during transition times throughout the school day including recess, lunch, etc.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Belief in the Brillante Academy mission, model, and virtues.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate’s Degree or minimum of 48 college hours.
• Experience working in a special education setting strongly preferred.
• Experience working with pre‑K and/or lower elementary students preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
