Title: Agriculture Teacher (CTE)
Status: Exempt - Professional

Purpose:

To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum and instructional program that supports student success and achievement.

Department

Purpose:

To provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and a valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Agriculture Sciences.
  • Knowledgeable in effective schools research, principles of accreditation standards, Texas Education Agency requirements, teaching techniques and methodology, child development, and special needs of exceptional learners.
Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist in formulating, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
  • Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and professional relations with others.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Provide for ongoing professional growth through reading workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework.
  • Accept responsibilities for co-curricular activities as assigned when these activities do not interfere with a teacher’s primary teaching assignment.
  • Perform other duties pertaining to Career and Technical Education as assigned by the school principal or CTE Director.
Working Conditions

Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written), interpret policy, procedures, and data, maintain emotional control under stress, interpret and implement TEA rules and regulations.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional prolonged hours, regular physical demands of stooping, lifting, and other strenuous demands of job performance.
