Responsibilities

Join our South Texas Health System Clinics (formerly Valley Care Clinics) team! Providers with South Texas Health System Clinics deliver high quality family medicine, health screenings, and advanced specialized care to the people of the Rio Grande Valley. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, including assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, performing venipuncture and other procedures as directed, documenting in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines, preparing treatment rooms, assisting front desk duties, executing prescribed treatments and medications, monitoring and documenting treatment progress, delegating as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act, coordinating referrals, and educating patients and families about health status and management of acute and chronic conditions.

• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician
• Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), perform venipuncture
• Document in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination
• Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer medications, monitor and document treatment progress
• Refer to and consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems
• Educate patients and families about health status, maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions

• Completion of LPN/LVN nursing training from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum of one year working as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse
• Minimum of one year college or technical school;
  Associate’s degree preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Current state registered license for LPN/LVN
