Overview
We are seeking a Definitive Observation Unit CNA (also referred to as DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step-Down Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Progressive Care CNA) in our Definitive Observation Unit (DOU). This role involves providing direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than on a regular med-surg floor but are not critical enough for the ICU. This position is on a per diem basis (PD/PRN as needed).

- Take and record frequent vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Assist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support.
- Turn, reposition, and assist patients with mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques and equipment.
- Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition.
- Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step-down unit.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
- Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
