MSE Structure Wall​/Foreman

General Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of work crews engaged in preparing and applying concrete for fabricating, covering, and reinforcing structures including buildings, bridges, highways, and dams.

• Oversees workers who place forms for molding concrete, install reinforcing steel, and convey, pour, finish, and cure concrete.
• Reads specification sheets for information such as sizes of aggregates and proportions of cement and water required to ensure concrete is mixed according to specifications.
• Inspects bracing and shoring of concrete forms to ensure their stability before and during pouring.
• Indicates positions for pouring chutes and runways, cranes, or paving machines to facilitate conveying concrete from mixer to forms.
• Trains new workers.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

2 to 4 years.

Physical:
Must be capable of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements exceed those for sedentary work and include significant walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and working at a production rate.

Intellectual:
Must be able to apply and interpret principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Competent in basic algebra and geometry and skilled in the computation of discount, interest, profit and loss; commission, markup, selling price; ratio, proportion; and percentage; surfaces, volumes, weights, and measures.

Must read safety rules, instructions for shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
