Senior Manager, Finance Advisor

Job Description
The Senior Manager, Finance Advisor is a key business and finance contact/expert on all Insurance (Canada and International) expenses at the entity, line of business, and product level. The incumbent will be an expert on expense allocations, collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure allocations are reasonable and reflective of business, controls are in place, and processes are documented; and will support core finance activities (planning, month‑end, reporting, process streamlining) as they relate to entity, line of business and product level expenses.

Responsibilities

Primary contact for business and finance partners on allocated expenses.

Draw on expense expertise to provide advice, analysis and reporting to finance, business and senior management, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities related to entity, line of business and product level expenses.

Develop new, drivers‑based financial metrics and insights.

Lead the annual cost study process, collaborating with business to ensure allocation assumptions are driven by underlying business, reviewing results for reasonability, collaborating with GRM to ensure requirements are met, and presenting results to finance, business, and senior management.

Provide regular reporting to finance and P&L owners, enhancing reporting to be drivers‑based and ensuring transparency on entity, line of business, and product level expenses.

Lead planning and forecasting for entity, line of business and product expenses, ensuring reasonability of results and presenting findings to finance, business and senior management.

Identify areas where processes can be improved and implement changes as necessary to streamline reporting.

Support business and finance partners in the development of business cases / PARs.

Requirements / Must Have

CPA, MBA or equivalent.

Solid understanding of Insurance system accounting.

Experience in expense analysis, reporting and forecasting.

Business advisory experience with proven ability to communicate complex concepts concisely to technical and non‑technical audiences, in written and verbal forms, and to senior management.

Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Comfort with delegating tasks to individuals both inside and outside direct area of influence.

Self‑initiated and self‑starter with a strong work ethic.

Teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation are required.
