The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s financial planning, reporting, control, and measurement activities. This role requires the individual to generate and evaluate key financial data essential for the company’s strategic decision-making processes and to present this data comprehensively to the leadership team.
Regularly review and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy between subsidiary and general ledgers.Guarantee the timely preparation and analysis of quarterly financial statements for the parent company.Spearhead the assembly of year-end audit documents, encompassing all financial areas.Compile year-end comparative financial summaries with relevant schedules.Collaborate seamlessly with both internal and external audit groups, providing crucial data as needed.Produce monthly financial summaries and ensure their precise distribution to key stakeholders post approval from the Director of Finance & Accounting.Supervise functions like accounts receivable, cash management, and accounts payable. Assist team members with operational reviews and cater to miscellaneous reporting needs.Track daily monetary requirements and forecast monthly cash needs.Update and maintain accounting procedure and policy manuals.Mentor accounting staff, approve their tasks, and address their training and performance evaluation needs.Draft monthly projections and an annual budget for the Accounting Department.Aid in the annual budget formulation process.Generate comprehensive financial reports by gathering, evaluating, and summarizing account data.Uphold financial integrity by resolving discrepancies, conducting audits, adhering to internal controls, and ensuring regular data backups.Proactively take up and complete assignments within set time frames and engage in special projects when required.Manage bank accounts and handle queries from banks and credit card firms.Oversee reserve accounts, investments, and inspect bank summaries.Stay updated on all relevant financial regulations, trends, and practices.Undertake any other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Finance & Accounting.Experience
At least 10 years of accounting experience.A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.Prior experience or knowledge of the freight forwarding sector is beneficial.Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, practices, tax regulations, and reporting guidelines.Proficient communicator across all company levels.Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, email, and the capacity to quickly learn new software.Team player with the capability to also work autonomously.Possesses analytical, logical thinking, and reasoning skills.Thrives under pressure and respects deadlines.Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities.Skilled in interpreting and executing company policies and procedures.Unwavering attention to detail.Maintains strict confidentiality and can handle sensitive data.Effective leadership skills in managing subordinate staff.Education
University or college degree in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Enrollment in CPA an asset.
