Job Description & How to Apply Below
Farm Girl is a Canadian better-for-you cereal and granola company on a serious growth trajectory. We’ve built a strong foundation across Canadian grocery and we’re now expanding into the US, with launches at Sprouts and other major retailers. We’re a small, hands‑on team that ships real product, moves fast, and is building something we’re proud of.
About
The Role
We’re hiring a Finance Associate/Analyst to be the backbone of our finance function. You’ll report directly to the CFO and Controller — meaning daily mentorship and real exposure to how a growing CPG business is run financially.
Day to day, you’ll own the bookkeeping, AP, and AR that keep the business running. But this is not a narrow seat: as the most junior member of a lean, senior team, you’ll flex into whatever the business needs — reconciliations, month‑end support, reporting, analysis, and ad‑hoc projects.
If you want to learn corporate finance from the ground up with people who’ll invest in you, this is the role.
What You’ll Do
Own day‑to‑day bookkeeping: process vendor invoices, code to GL, run weekly payment runs (EFT, wire, cheque), generate customer invoices, and apply cash receipts
Reconcile retailer remittances and work through deduction backup including chargebacks, MCB, shortages, freight claims, and promotional clawbacks
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
Process employee expense reports and maintain clean, audit‑ready records
Support month‑end close and assist with financial reporting
Build spreadsheets and pull data to support analysis, budgeting, and decision‑making
Flex into ad‑hoc finance projects as the company scales across Canada and the US
What We’re Looking For
1–4 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience (new grads with a strong internship welcome)
Accounting or finance degree, or working toward a CPA designation
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with numbers and data
Experience with Xero or a comparable cloud accounting system (an asset)
Detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to take on more than the job description
Clear, professional written communication
A genuine desire to grow into a broader finance role
Nice to Have
CPG, food and beverage, or wholesale industry experience
Familiarity with retailer deductions (Loblaw, Sobeys, Metro, Costco, Walmart, Whole Foods)
Exposure to US AR and multi‑currency (USD/CAD) transactions
What You’ll Get
Direct mentorship from a CFO and Controller — a rare chance to learn corporate finance at close range
A clear path to grow into a more senior analyst or accounting role as the company scales
Meaningful, visible work at a growing Canadian food brand with national and US distribution
Full‑time, in‑office role with benefits
Benefits
Dental care
Vision care
Life insurance
Disability insurance
Paid time off
