The State Group is seeking a Payroll Analyst to work at our Mississauga, Ontario office. The Payroll Analyst position coordinates and supports payroll tax and union benefit audits, prepares and files certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects, and coordinates annual workers’ compensation audits. This is an on-site position, and working remotely is not an option.

What You Will Do
Process and maintain employee compensation, payroll data, hours, and deductions within the payroll system.
Complete weekly and bi-weekly payrolls accurately and on time.
Generate and review audit, exception, and reconciliation reports to validate gross-to-net pay, labor hours, pay rates, and deductions.
Manage payroll disbursements, including checks, pay statements, direct deposits, garnishments, employment insurance claims, and government correspondence.
Validate and balance payroll transactions with downstream systems, including job costing, general ledger, payroll taxes, and child support payments; partner with outsourced payroll tax compliance providers as needed.
Prepare and submit union and non-union payroll data, including certified payroll, prevailing wage, and benefits funding reports. Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and job-specific regulations.
Coordinate payroll tax notices and compliance activities; investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Create queries, reports, Excel workbooks, and summary analyses as requested.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Need to Join Our Team
3+ years of experience processing US and Canadian payroll for both union and non-union employees required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with construction/ERP software (Sage, Vista, Jonas) preferred.
Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
