Banking Operations Associate
Our client, one of the Big 5 banks in Canada, is hiring a Payment Operations Associate to support back‑office payment processing within a fast‑paced financial services environment. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, organized, comfortable working with payment documentation, and able to meet daily productivity targets within strict service‑level timelines.
This is a non‑customer‑facing role focused on processing payment requests for banking customers across Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will review payment details, validate documentation, update internal systems, manage assigned tickets, and work closely with internal business teams to ensure payment requests are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Review banking customer payment requests, account information, documentation, and transaction details for accuracy and completeness
- Process payment requests, transactions, account updates, and related operational tasks within required timelines
- Support payment processing for customers across both Canada and the United States
- Work through a ticketing system to manage daily assigned payment requests, action items, and follow‑ups
- Audit payment files, enter data, update internal banking systems, and track incoming requests
- Review payment‑related documentation, account instructions, and supporting information as required
- Ensure all payment processing tasks are completed in line with internal policies, procedures, regulatory expectations, and service‑level agreements
- Identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and escalate payment concerns or exceptions when needed
- Communicate with internal teams through email, phone, and messaging platforms to resolve payment‑related inquiries
- Support internal business groups by providing accurate updates and responses related to payment status, processing timelines, and operational requirements
- Maintain strong attention to detail while handling a high volume of daily payment processing work
- Assist with reporting, tracking, and organizing operational payment data when required
- Support process improvements and help maintain accurate, efficient, and compliant payment operations workflows
- Previous experience in a role that required operational duties (can be an internship, part‑time job, or full‑time job)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of everyday computer systems and software (Microsoft Office, Teams, etc.)
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mississauga, ON.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00 /hr.
