Position: Licensed Diesel Truck Technician/Mechanic I 5k Sign on Bonus )

Location:

7405 E Danbro Cres, Mississauga, ON L5N 6P8.
Pay: $41-43 per hour. Shift Premium: $3.00 for 2nd Shift, $4.00 for 3rd Shift.
Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00AM – 2:30PM.

Penske is looking for an experienced, licensed vehicle maintenance technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, and capable of diagnosing, overhauling, adjusting, and repairing all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision.

Major Responsibilities
  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or confirm proper operation
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper operating condition
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
  • Adjust and replace brake, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment
  • Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
  • Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • 5+ years practical experience with tractor‑trailer maintenance
  • Must possess the respective provincial license (e.g., Red Seal / 310T)
  • Must maintain membership/registration with the respective government agencies
  • Current driver's license classD or class3 with air‑brake certification required or ability to obtain within 6months of hiring
  • Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosing/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training courses preferred
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel within the district (customer yards, close geographic area, and training sites)
  • Ability to work the required schedule and specific location

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 12kg; frequently up to 23kg; occasionally up to 45kg
  • Required close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • While performing duties, regularly stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear
  • Frequently use hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms
