We are currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Landfill Gas Operations to join us in the Mississauga area. This is a hands‑on, field‑based mechanical role for someone who enjoys working directly with industrial equipment, diagnosing mechanical problems and completing repairs and preventative maintenance.

Position Summary

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment at our landfill gas-to-energy facilities and flaring sites.

This is not primarily a monitoring or control‑room position. The successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time working directly on equipment and performing physical maintenance activities in an industrial/outdoor environment much of the work will be indoors, with some outside.

While the position is based in Mississauga, travel within the Southern Ontario corridor will be required.

This position is an onsite role and is an open vacancy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands‑on preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and landfill gas-to-energy systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems, determine causes of equipment failures and complete necessary repairs.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair and replace mechanical components and equipment as required.
  • Use hand tools, power tools and appropriate diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance and repair work.
  • Assist with equipment installation, removal, adjustment and replacement.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and operational issues and work to return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify wear, damage, leaks, abnormal operation and potential equipment failures.
  • Support the day‑to‑day operation of landfill gas collection and energy utilization equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding work in industrial and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Work independently in the field while collaborating with operations and maintenance team members when troubleshooting larger system issues.
  • Follow all company health, safety and environmental procedures and participate in required training.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 5 years of hands‑on experience maintaining, repairing or troubleshooting mechanical equipment
    , preferably in an industrial, plant, manufacturing, heavy‑equipment or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and mechanical maintenance equipment.
  • Experience with pumps, motors, compressors, engines, piping, valves or similar industrial equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience in landfill gas, renewable energy or environmental operations is an asset but is not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; mechanical, industrial or technical training/certification is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical work and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) for maintenance records, data entry and reporting.
  • Valid G driver's license in good standing.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to manage time effectively and respond to changing maintenance priorities.
Additional Details
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (day shift), with some flexibility.
  • On‑Call Requirements: On call every 6-7 weeks in Southern Ontario.
  • Overtime: Approximately 20 hours per month.
  • Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor – Southern Ontario Operations.
