Controller, Accounting, Financial Compliance

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 (potential flexibility for highly qualified candidates)

We are seeking a Facilities Controller to oversee the financial, administrative, and operational business functions of a correctional facility environment. This leadership position combines accounting, budgeting, contract administration, and business office management responsibilities while supporting the day-to‑day operations of a 24/7 facility.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who excels in financial management, process improvement, team supervision, and administrative operations.

• Lead the facility's budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities.
• Oversee month‑end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general accounting operations.
• Supervise and develop a team of accounting and administrative professionals.
• Administer contracts, billing, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate complex billing processes involving multiple contracts and stakeholders.
• Create and enhance Excel‑based tools, templates, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain financial controls and ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
• Partner with facility leadership to support operational and financial objectives.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience managing accounting operations, budgeting, financial reporting, AP, and AR functions.
• Prior supervisory or people leadership experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including large datasets, formulas, reporting, and process automation.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Comfortable working within a correctional facility setting and meeting security requirements.

• Experience supporting contract‑driven or highly regulated operations.
• Background in correctional, government, institutional, healthcare, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.
• Experience with Oracle Fusion, or comparable ERP systems.
• CPA, MBA, or other advanced business credentials preferred.
• Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Fully onsite position in Tutwiler, MS.
• Facility operates 24/7; occasional after‑hours support may be required for urgent operational or financial matters.
• Daily security screening required.
• Administrative offices are separate from housing areas, though occasional access to secured portions of the facility may be necessary.
