Responsibilities
Mississippi Valley State University Department of Social Work is seeking an Administrative Assistant to manage and support the office, supervise work study students and volunteers, and handle duties for the department Chair. Responsibilities include meeting and greeting students and guests, managing workflow and deadlines, answering and directing phone calls, maintaining office equipment (computers, copy machines, fax), ordering supplies and inventory, keeping record of furniture and electronics, preparing responses and requests for information, attending meetings and taking minutes, organizing and scheduling appointments, writing and sending emails, faxes, and forms, assisting with reports, maintaining filing system, making travel arrangements, reconciling and submitting expense reports, and serving as a point of contact for students and alums.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree required; experience/training in data analytics, developing and managing data sets that are critical to departmental continuous improvements and assessment, proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel; ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency; ability to create memorandums and take dictation; must be detailed oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑pace office environment;
exceptional communication skills; superior organizational skills and dedication to completing projects timely; must also have three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in an office setting and have excellent typing skills.
Demonstrates experience in website development, maintenance, and content management. Additionally, expertise in designing, updating, and managing web-based platforms.
Physical DemandsApplicants must be able to lift, pull, bend, stand, and walk.
