Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures and to apply these to work problems. Ability to maintain clerical records and prepare routine reports from such records. Ability to maintain good relationships with the general public. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, students, members of the community and others.
Skill in the operation of a typewriter, and of a computer terminal to perform word-processing or data system tasks. Excellent human relations skills. Computer skills including word processing and database required.
Education, training, and experience:
High school diploma or higher. Preferred three years experience as secretary or bookkeeper.
License requirements:

Physical demands:
Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects (80lbs.), walking and standing for extended periods of time and frequent climbing as required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Attend meetings after the instructional day.

Contract with salary and dates to be established by the Board of Education.
Performance responsibilities:

- Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts into usable form
- Maintains a regular filing system and processes incoming correspondence as instructed.
- Maintains such records and reports pertaining to students, faculty, and staff as may be required.
- Receives and routes all incoming calls in a professional and personable manner.
- Maintains a daily teacher attendance log and concomitant records pertaining to the use of substitute teachers.
- Assists teachers as may be requested in preparing instructional materials.
- Welcomes visitors who come into the office; provides them with information and guidance to help them accomplish the purpose of their visit.
- Orders and maintains supplies as needed; arrange for office housekeeping, and bookkeeping.
- Performs bookkeeping and other recordkeeping tasks related to the position
- Maintains a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conference and interviews.
- Assigns duties to and supervises the work of student office assistants
- Provides for the sending, receiving, and distribution of all mail processed in and out of the school.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining proper decorum at all times by all persons within the office.
- Assists with the management chores of the daily opening of school, class changes within the school day, and the daily closing of school.
- Operates word processors, computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
