The Worship Pastor shall lead congregational worship during the Sunday Morning and Sunday Evening services. In the event of an absence, the Worship Pastor will locate a substitute and alert the chairman of the Personnel Committee and the Senior Pastor of the absence and substitute. The Worship Pastor will hold choir practice and praise band rehearsal as needed. The Worship Pastor will oversee the Children’s Music activities, events, and rehearsals.
The Worship Pastor will oversee all of the music events and activities of the church. The Worship Pastor will aid the Senior Pastor in any additional services and ministries as deemed necessary. The Worship Pastor shall be a member of the Music and A/V Committee and shall serve as chair.
- Meet the qualifications of a Pastor as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
- A background of church attendance and service in a church of like faith and order.
- Evidence of a call to ministry.
- Experience leading congregational worship, church choirs, and praise bands.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (preferred)
- Sunday Morning: 9am – 12pm / weekly
- Sunday Evening: 5pm-7pm / weekly
- Wednesday Evening: 6-7pm / weekly
- Monthly staff meeting: 1 hour / month
- Monthly business meeting: 1 hour / month
- Other committee meetings: 1-2 hours / month
- Develop a vision and goal for the worship ministries of First Baptist Church to reach our community, develop disciples within the worship ministries, support growth in worship programs, and glorify God through worship.
- Lead worship each Sunday during morning and evening worship and during any additional services that are planned (i.e. Good Friday and Christmas Eve).
- Recruit, train, and rehearse with Praise Band and Choir
- Oversee Children’s Music activities (including assisting with VBS and summer camps), events and rehearsals.
- Oversee music related events and activities of the church.
- Oversee the Audio Visual (A/V) ministry of the church.
- Select and organize worship music for congregational singing for both Sunday services by keeping an up-to-date music library, organizing choir folders, printing music for instrumentalists in preparation for rehearsals, confirming the attendance of volunteer musicians for worship services, and planning an order of worship with the Senior Pastor in a timely manner.
- Plan a cantata or other special music for Christmas and Easter services.
- Procure music, instruments, and other supplies by working with the Music Committee.
- Assist with hospital and home visitation as needed.
- Lead a devotional during choir rehearsal or preach a sermon as needed.
- Provide pastoral support to membership within the music ministry and church.
- Support the church’s events, ministries, and efforts through personal attendance and use of talents and gifts as needed.
