Television Production Assistant

The television production assistant will work to assist the Director in all aspects of television production. Will also assist students in learning how to produce, shoot and edit video. Will handle general programming responsibilities as needed.

• Assist in recording and editing content material for broadcast.
• Assist students during video production Lab hours.
• Assist with pre and postproduction projects.
• Assist in maintaining and protecting equipment.
• Manage programming/broadcasting logs when necessary.

• Willing to travel for production shoots, etc., when necessary.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter who can demonstrate creative and critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintain flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends.

• Basic understanding and willingness to learn all aspects of television production including video/digital camera usage, video editing, live streaming and audio recording.
• Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro editing software, Pro Tools, and Apple software, and how to assist students in using it.
• Experience working in pre and post television productions.
• Knowledge of professional journalist ethics, standards, First Amendment Rights, and legal issues.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to work with minimal supervision; previous experience in an environment that requires student and public contact.

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, media, television production, or related field.
• Ability to work well with students to complete projects and meet deadlines.
