• Advises and provides support on projects that are deemed sharedpriorities of the university and academic units that comprise the communications team.
• Advises administrators, faculty and staff on effective communications and media relations
• Develops communications plans and creative briefs for majorinitiatives
• Works collaboratively with other units in the Office of Communications and Marketing on multi-media projects and initiatives
• Other related duties, as assigned

• Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in mass communications,journalism, or a related field
• Minimum Experience One (1) year professional experience in a client facing communications, public relations role, with emphasis onmedia relations and social media Experience writing for broadaudiences as well as those in higher education also is highly preferred

• Knowledgeable of a broad range of journalistic and multimediatools, including media software for news distribution and monitoring
• Knowledgeable of professional guidelines for journalism and public relations
• Proficient in and adaptable to new technology, including production management and team collaboration software
• Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Excellent project management skills
• Skilled in researching topics
• Ability to make complex research and concepts accessible to variedaudiences
• Ability to successfully pitch and place news stories, regionally and nationally
• Ability to create engaging content across all media
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
