Location: Lucedale
Job Title: High School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 9–12)
Job SummaryThe High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective mathematics instruction aligned with Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards. The teacher will promote student learning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills while maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment.
Qualifications (MDE Requirements)- Valid Mississippi Educator License issued by the Mississippi Department of Education
- Required Endorsement(s):
- Mathematics (7–12) Endorsement – Code 154 (primary endorsement required to teach high school math)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics Education or related field
- Completion of an approved educator preparation program or alternate route certification
- Passing score on required Praxis subject‑area assessments (as required by MDE)
- Plan and deliver daily mathematics instruction aligned with state standards
- Teach courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and other secondary math courses
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings
- Follow district, state, and federal policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content (algebra, geometry, statistics, etc.)
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Classroom management and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction
- School‑based setting
- Requires standing, walking, and classroom supervision for extended periods
