Position: HIGH SCHOOL MATH TEACHER
Location: Lucedale

Job Title: High School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 9–12)

Job Summary

The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective mathematics instruction aligned with Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards. The teacher will promote student learning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills while maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment.

Qualifications (MDE Requirements)
  • Valid Mississippi Educator License issued by the Mississippi Department of Education
  • Required Endorsement(s):
    • Mathematics (7–12) Endorsement – Code 154 (primary endorsement required to teach high school math)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics Education or related field
  • Completion of an approved educator preparation program or alternate route certification
  • Passing score on required Praxis subject‑area assessments (as required by MDE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver daily mathematics instruction aligned with state standards
  • Teach courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and other secondary math courses
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance
  • Create a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Participate in professional development and faculty meetings
  • Follow district, state, and federal policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content (algebra, geometry, statistics, etc.)
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Classroom management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to integrate technology into instruction
  • School‑based setting
  • Requires standing, walking, and classroom supervision for extended periods
