Description
The individual instructor is the key figure in the educational pattern of the college, and his/her attitude, personality, skill, character, and initiative will determine how well the college fulfills its objectives. He/she plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation.
Duties
- Teaches all classes and labs as assigned.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject.
- Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course.
- Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content.
- Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom.
- Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed.
- Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time.
- Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline.
- Maintains required office and class hours.
- Serves as sponsor and advisor for student clubs and organizations as appropriate.
- Advises students with class schedules.
- Serves on college councils and committees as assigned.
- Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities.
Qualifications And Required Documents
Education: Master’s degree is required for Academic instructors. Career/Technical instructors may hold appropriate degrees, certification, and work experience as required.
Other Requirements
- Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities.
- Actively participates in maintaining an effective and continuous recruiting program.
- Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities.
- Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned by the President and/or supervisor.
