Job Title
Lead Chaperone, Talent Search 61 North
Essential Job Functions
- Supervise and support regular chaperones in ensuring student safety, engagement, and participation
- Act as the primary point of contact for overnight supervision and dorm-related concerns
- Oversee camper check-ins, headcounts, and behavioral management strategies
- Assist in planning and executing camp activities, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to schedules.
- Communicate with program leadership student needs, safety issues, or other concerns
- Enforce all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a secure experience for all participants
- Handle emergency situations and ensure all safety protocols are followed
- Chaperone educational and cultural activities/ field trips
- Serve as a mentor to Talent Search participants
- Other related duties, as assigned
- Candidate must be at least a college Junior with a GPA of 3.0
- Two (2) years' experience working with at-risk/disadvantaged students
- Experience in youth leadership, camp coordination, or student mentoring, preferably in an educational or summer camp setting
- Strong decision-making, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to guide and support regular chaperones in fulfilling their responsibilities
- Ability to supervise, engage, and provide a safe and supportive environment for campers
- Ability to enforce camp rules, maintain discipline, and respond effectively to emergencies
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work with fellow chaperones, camp staff, and program director
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to oversee schedules and ensure smooth operations
- Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in managing daily camp activities and unexpected challenges
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures, behavior management strategies
