Prison Education Partnership Program Coordinator
Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) invites applications for the position of Prison Education Partnership Program (PEPP) Coordinator. This position supports the delivery of accredited, college-level programs within regional and state correctional facilities in Mississippi Delta. The Coordinator plays a key role in advancing MVSU’s mission of access, equity, and community impact by supporting incarcerated students and ensuring programs meet SACSCOC accreditation standards and U.S. Department of Education Prison Education Program (PEP) / Second Chance Pell requirements.
PositionResponsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of prison education programs at assigned correctional facilities.
- Support student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and orientation processes.
- Provide basic academic advising in consultation with Department Chairs and connect students to university resources.
- Assist faculty with course logistics, scheduling, and facility coordination.
- Ensure instructional delivery aligns with university standards and expectations.
- Maintain accurate student records and program documentation.
- Support compliance with SACSCOC standards, including course quality, and student services.
- Assist with Second Chance Pell/PEP compliance, including enrollment tracking and reporting.
- Serve as a liaison between MVSU, Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), and community partners.
- Collect and report data related to enrollment, retention, and completion outcomes.
- Support student reentry pathways, including transition to campus or online programs.
- Bachelor’s + degree from an accredited institution in education, social sciences, public or business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education in correctional facilities, student services, program coordination, or a related area.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across locations.
- Ability to work effectively within secure, highly regulated environments.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working with justice-involved populations or in correctional education.
- Familiarity with SACSCOC accreditation standards and/or federal financial aid (Pell Grant).
- Experience supporting programs in rural or underserved communities.
