Position SummaryThe School of Art, Music, and Performance at Jones College invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Music (Saxophone/Woodwinds). This part‑time faculty member will provide applied instruction primarily in saxophone to music majors and non‑music majors and may direct small chamber ensembles in the woodwind area. The instructor will support the development of students’ performance skills and contribute to the collaborative environment of the Jones College music program.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Teach applied saxophone lessons to music majors and non-music majors.
- Guide students in developing technical proficiency, musical interpretation, and repertoire knowledge.
- Prepare students for studio recitals, juries, auditions, and ensemble participation.
- When assigned, direct or coach small woodwind or saxophone chamber ensembles.
- Evaluate student progress and assign grades in accordance with college academic policies.
- Maintain communication with music faculty regarding student development and program needs.
- Support recruitment and retention of music students when appropriate.
- Participate in departmental performances, juries, or other music program activities as needed.
- Master’s degree in Music (Performance or related field) with specialization in Saxophone or Woodwinds.
- Doctorate in Music (DMA, PhD, or equivalent) in Performance or a closely related field.
- Previous collegiate teaching experience, particularly in applied instruction.
- Demonstrated professional experience as a performer and educator.
- Experience teaching students at the community college or undergraduate level.
This position reports to the Director of Bands.
Appointment TypePart‑time, Adjunct Faculty. Teaching assignments and compensation are determined each semester based on enrollment and program needs.
