Minimum Qualifications

Valid Mississippi Educator License; any other qualifications and requirements established by the district. Must pass a criminal background check as prescribed by state statute.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of district policies and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of district policies and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff.
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, staff development, and school improvement.
  • Proficient in technology.
Essential Functions/Duties
  • Assumes responsibility for effective and efficient performance of this position to include, but not limited to the following:
  • Attends Teacher Support Team (TST) trainings.
  • Gains an understanding of all TST forms.
  • Understands process steps/procedures for MSIS generated students and referred students.
  • Gains an understanding of the district's computer programs used for interventions.
  • Researches new intervention programs.
  • Assists teachers in developing interventions using research-based interventions.
  • Once student begins Tier II or Tier III Interventions, gathers and reviews intervention documentation weekly to ensure interventions are being conducted as designed by TST. Reports to principal any intervention that is not carried out appropriately.
  • Observes students in regular classroom settings and makes recommendations that benefit the student's learning environment.
  • Conducts weekly progress monitoring probes.
  • Attends TST meetings.
  • Makes recommendations of interventions to be considered.
  • Makes sure all forms are complete.
  • Reviews minutes.
  • Ensures interventions are being documented appropriately.
  • Communicates with parent/guardian progress of student in TST.
  • Completes monthly report and sends to TST/RTI Committee.
  • Reviews the MSIS generated list each week with the principal and TST.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules and regulations, administrative procedures and school board policies.
  • Maintains good public relations with parents and students.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with and avails him/herself of the resources and services available through the Curriculum & Instruction Department.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with the student records.
  • Is responsible for supervision of students as required by school board policy.
  • Assists in selection of supplies, materials, and equipment to enhance learning.
  • Strives for excellence in all school-related endeavors.
  • Cooperates with school and system-level staff in planning and implementing system-wide goals and objectives.
  • Updates teaching license as required by Mississippi Department of Education standards and local district policy.
  • Is punctual and conscientious in school attendance and regulations, administrative procedures, and school board policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the curriculum coordinator.
