Substitute Teacher
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans. Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Maintains a safe and orderly environment. Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility. Communicates effectively with parents when needed. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. Completes other duties as assigned. Supervises students. Applicant must be 21 years of age and older to apply. Age requirement waived if applicant is currently enrolled in a teacher prep college program (proof of enrollment required).
Must have a minimum of 48 college credit hours or Work Keys Results. All of the following information must be submitted with application. Applications without required documentation will not be accepted or processed. Copy of current driver's license or state issued photo of social security card. Copy of educational documents (example: high school transcript, high school diploma, GED certificate, college transcript, college diploma, and valid teacher license).
For applicants without the minimum of 48 college credit hours, a TABE test will be scheduled by the LCSD. After the new sub-teacher training, a background check must be completed by LCSD. Please be prepared to pay a fee of $32.00 (cash or check).
