Job Description:
This position will report directly to the Director of Enrollment Services Center. The incumbent is responsible for counseling and advising prospective and currently enrolled students. The incumbent is an integral part of and provides support for all functions of the Perkinston Campus.
Job Duties:
- Assist students with enrollment services processes to include Financial Aid, admissions and registration.
- Counsel and advise students in matters related to their programs of study, both academic, health related and career/technical.
- Maintain a positive, professional environment with time flexibility for multi-tasking.
- Provide information services as it relates to the college offerings, university transfer information and career pathways.
- Provide advising guidance for dual credit and Collegiate Academy students as it relates to degree completion and transfer opportunities.
- Assist with coordination and facilitation of orientation programs.
- Assist with coordination of campus-wide student retention and recruitment efforts.
- Handle difficult situations with positive and professional composure at all times.
- Serve as an active member of appropriate campus and college committees as appointed.
- Serve in the implementation of the studentWEBServices and other technological programs currently utilized by the College and those planned for the future.
- Attend appropriate conferences, workshops and seminars to facilitate professional development.
- Be familiar with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Policy Handbook and abide by the policies and procedures outlined therein.
- Be familiar with the required forms that pertain to the students that are identified as veterans, vocational rehabilitation, WIA, etc.
- Assist students with computerized career assessment tools and interpret results.
- Serve as a supportive college representative in daily activities.
- Continuously strive to achieve/maintain the college mission, values, and goals by making a positive difference in people's lives every day.
- Utilize the Banner software and other appropriate software to support office procedures as related to enrollment services.
- Stay current concerning trends and policy changes related to higher education to include articulation agreements.
- Assist with representing the college in activities at high school and community events.
- Make referrals for personal counseling as needed.
- Be flexible in working nights and weekends as required.
- Participate in activities and meetings called by the Dean of Student Services & Enrollment Management.
- Perform other duties that are implied, related and/or recommended by the Dean of Student Services & Enrollment Management.
Mandatory
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in areas such as educational advising, employment counseling, or student services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Work experience in a college setting.
- Experience with Ellucian System of other administrative software.
- Three years of experience interacting with students.
- Experience with data entry in a database.
- Active credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (P-LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
