Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Crystal Springs, MS) The Opportunity
In this role, you will contribute to the manufacturing of critical power grid equipment that supports reliable energy delivery to communities and industries. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with production and cross‑functional teams to improve safety, quality, and operational performance within transformer manufacturing processes. You will take part in analyzing workflows, implementing capital improvement projects, and supporting equipment and process start‑ups, helping ensure efficient and consistent production outcomes.
Your work will directly influence how manufacturing operations perform—enhancing throughput, reducing waste, and strengthening process stability. By applying Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices, you will help modernize manufacturing operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety and performance. This role offers the opportunity to engage with advanced manufacturing practices, collaborate across disciplines, and develop solutions that support a more reliable and efficient power grid.
You’ll Make an Impact
- Analyze manufacturing process flows and production data to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost efficiency
- Perform engineering activities including design, development, testing, installation, and service using technical documentation and specifications
- Lead and support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of technical issues
- Support production during process and equipment start‑ups, including planning actions and training operations and maintenance teams
- Evaluate and test new process technologies, defining approval criteria and coordinating with external providers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies such as ITM, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and value stream mapping
- Identify and lead capital improvement (Cap Ex) projects from scope definition through implementation and performance validation
Maintain a strong shop floor presence to support operations, identify risks, and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement - Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with a preferable minimum of 8+ years of experience
- Practical experience in Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, TPM, SMED, and OEE with demonstrated results
- Experience in process improvement approaches such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, and continuous improvement frameworks
- Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels, from shop floor to leadership
- Transformer manufacturing experience is a plus;
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred but not required - Role required to be onsite at our Crystal Springs MS facility
