Overview
Job | Services LLC - A57. Operations power Amazon’s speed, accuracy, and service. The Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team partners to drive continuous improvement and maintain robotics and material handling equipment (MHE) to fulfill customer orders with speed and accuracy. The Automation Engineer will help maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation, troubleshooting, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities- Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical to operations.
- Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks (Ethernet, Control Net, Device Net, Profibus), motor control, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
- Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues and provide analysis across all operations.
- Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, both locally and remotely.
- Perform and analyze building/system assessments to enhance material handling system performance.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- 2+ years of Ladder Logic and structured programming experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs.
- 2+ years of process or production environment experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis.
- 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment.
- Experience with HMI and control network components including maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and design.
- Experience identifying, maintaining, and troubleshooting motor controls including motor starters, VFDs, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
- Experience with preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical/controls/electronics and robotics.
- Experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Experience programming with RSLogix
5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other controls software platforms.
