POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager
- Capital Engineering, Southern Division is responsible for leading the engineering development and day-to-day execution of capital projects across IFG's Lumberton, Mississippi and Louisville, Alabama manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the Director
- Capital Projects, Southern Division, this position translates the approved capital plan into safely executed, technically sound and financially controlled projects. The Manager owns project engineering and execution discipline from scope development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and turnover, while the Director retains accountability for portfolio strategy, prioritization, funding recommendations and overall program governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the engineering development and day-to-day execution of approved Southern Division capital projects across Lumberton and Louisville.
  • Translate approved capital priorities into executable project scopes, design criteria, estimates, schedules, execution plans and resource requirements.
  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects through concept development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and closeout.
  • Establish project-level cost, schedule, risk, change-control and reporting systems consistent with governance requirements established by the Director
    - Capital Projects.
  • Provide the Director with timely project forecasts, risks, variances, decision requirements and recommendations; escalat material scope, budget or schedule changes.
  • Lead and coordinate internal engineers, mill resources, engineering consultants, OEMs, equipment suppliers and contractors assigned to capital projects.
  • Develop technical bid packages and requests for quotation/proposal; lead technical evaluations and provide commercial recommendations within approved project strategies.
  • Review engineering deliverables including layouts, civil/structural, mechanical, utilities, material handling, electrical and controls interfaces for technical quality and constructability.
  • Ensure designs incorporate safety, environmental compliance, operability, maintainability, reliability, production requirements and lifecycle cost.
  • Coordinate constructability reviews, outage planning, installation sequencing and tie-ins to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Manage project budgets, commitments, invoices, contingency, forecasts and change orders within approved authorization limits.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules; identify critical-path activities and resolve execution constraints.
  • Lead contractor field coordination and ensure compliance with IFG contractor safety, quality and site requirements.
  • Coordinate permitting, code compliance and insurance-underwriter requirements with appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Lead commissioning, performance testing, training, documentation and turnover to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Maintain complete project records including drawings, specifications, manuals, warranties, as-built documentation and closeout files.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and capture lessons learned, cost/schedule performance and operating results.
  • Mentor project engineers and provide technical guidance to mill engineering resources supporting the capital program.
  • Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible engineering and capital project management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major capital projects through scope development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, material handling, utilities, civil/structural construction and electrical/control interfaces.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, risk, change control and project reporting.
  • Experience managing engineering consultants, equipment suppliers and construction contractors.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, risk analysis, leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple complex projects across two operating facilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
