Story Land - Ride Lead (Seasonal)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily supervision of the rides team and any other assigned departments.
  • Lead by example, embodying Story Land’s core values.
  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts.
  • Become knowledgeable of the essential duties of all rides positions and backfill these positions when needed.
  • Participate in new‑hire orientation and training activities for all assigned hosts.
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are provided in accordance with New Hampshire law.
  • Assist with team scheduling and time‑keeping activities.
  • Ensure a smooth and continuous operation of all assigned rides and attractions.
  • Provide direct support to other rides hosts by making rounds throughout the park to check on their needs.
  • Provide coverage so that hosts may take bathroom breaks.
  • Maintain a vast knowledge of all rides in the park and jump in to assist or operate when necessary.
  • Oversee guest feedback and, when appropriate, escalate complaints or issues to the proper authorities.
  • Enforce park policies, ride restrictions, and ride recommendations.
  • Ensure safe operation of the ride by adhering to standard operating procedures and established trainings.
  • Report rides‑related issues and failures to park leadership and maintenance teams promptly.
  • Maintain constant vigilance to proactively identify potential hazards and inform park leadership of any concerns.
  • Protect guest belongings and turn in lost and found items promptly.
  • Notify security or park operator of host and guest injuries or emergencies.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of one season of work experience in the rides department. Previous ride operation experience at other amusement or theme park employers is also considered.
  • All rides team members must complete the International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) course; completion is required for this position. There is no cost to the host.
  • Must be at least 17 years of age to comply with New Hampshire child labor laws.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compliance with all uniform policies.
  • Safety‑oriented mindset and thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations regarding ride operation.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions.
  • Guest‑focused attitude and ability to work well with other hosts and supervisors.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat for long periods; reach above shoulders; remain on feet for the majority of the workday; climb or descend stairs for some rides; and carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
  • Able to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
  • Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, and weather conditions.
  • Experience with constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, vibrations, and heavily populated environments.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
