- Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned acute-setting patients as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team
- Provide patient care under the supervision of the FKC RN
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Participate in quality enhancement, quality assessment, performance improvement, patient satisfaction, and process improvement activities
- Set up and prime renal replacement therapy equipment when competent and directed
- Welcome patients and report complaints or observations to the RN
- Evaluate vascular access and report unusual findings
- Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight
- Perform vascular access cannulation
- Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming parameters
- Enable appropriate safety alarms
- Record vital signs and treatment parameters accurately and timely
- Initiate renal replacement treatment according to prescribed orders
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens to the laboratory
- Evaluate and intervene in intradialytic problems as prescribed or directed
- Monitor and report patient responses and unusual findings
- Perform reinfusion and treatment-discontinuation procedures
- Document interventions and patient responses
- Monitor vascular access pressures and provide appropriate intervention
- Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures
- Obtain hemostasis, apply dressings, evaluate patients before discharge, and report findings to the RN
- CCHT certification required
- 18 months of experience required, as stated in the posting header
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid PCT national certification or CMS-defined state-specific certification required
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required
- 1-2 years of related experience
- Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting and moving patients
- Ability to assist with ambulation
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
- Ability to occasionally move machines and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to lift chemical and water solutions weighing up to 30 lbs. to heights up to 5 feet
- Ability to travel between assigned facilities and community locations
- Ability to work in a healthcare environment and potentially be exposed to infectious or contagious materials
Demonstrates expertise in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy, including vascular access cannulation and monitoring patient responses. Proficient in maintaining a clean working environment and participating in quality improvement activities within a healthcare setting.
