Activities Assistant

The Activity Assistant assists the Activity Director in providing group and individual activities for residents of Jasper County Nursing Home. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that will include some weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be sure area to be used for activity is free.

• Set up as needed for the type of activity planned

• Assist with transport of residents to and from the activity area

• Follow the instructions for the activity as directed

• Perform related duties as assigned by Activity Director

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

• Notify nursing of resident behaviors which may indicate medical problems

• Observe individual resident participation and responses during the activity

• Chaperone scheduled activities away from the facility grounds

• Help with putting up, taking down and storing decorations

• Interact appropriately and effectively in one on one activities according to resident's strengths and limitations

• Participate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide special activities such as dress-up day and special observances

• Keep activity closets organized

• Maintain composure in stressful situations

• Be aware of individual cognitive, emotional and psychosocial impairments

• Complete documentation of tasks

• Help prepare calendars, newsletter, invitations, and other notices as needed

• Take pictures, have published in Jasper County News or placed in facility news letter

• Be knowledgeable of dietary needs, and other precautions

• Event planning experience is a plus
