Position:
Environmental, Health & Safety Manager at Hood Plywood, a division of Hood Industries, Inc., in Wiggins, MS. The role will guide plant management and employees in all safety and environmental compliance. It reports to the Plant Manager.
- Manages corporate and division health and safety programs at the facility.
- Oversees the development and implementation of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies (OSHA, MDEQ).
- Coordinates and delivers safety training to managers, employees, and contractors.
- Leads incident investigations and manages worker’s compensation administration and claims.
- Initiates facility safety audits, identifies potential hazards in the operation, and takes appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
- Knowledge and experience with regulatory guidelines, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Must have knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- High level of integrity and strong work ethic.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health & safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field is preferred; associate degree is required.
- Professional certification (ASP, CSP, or others) is desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment where 3 of those years were as Manager of a Safety department.
Salary Range: $86,000 - $105,000
