Position: Story Land Ride Supervisor (Seasonal)

Job Overview

The Rides Supervisor will assist in the supervision of the rides team members working throughout the amusement park. This position directly supports the Rides Manager with efficient operation of the department, which provides a positive guest experience. The Rides Supervisor will conduct daily audits to ensure that the park’s safety and operating policies are being properly followed.

Responsibilities
  • Supervisory duties:
    • Supervise daily operations of the rides team and any other assigned departments
    • Lead by example and represent Story Land’s core values
    • Act as approachable mentor and coach for all assigned hosts
    • Be knowledgeable of essential duties of all rides positions and backfill when needed
    • Participate in hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline of assigned hosts
    • Ensure all required meal and other breaks are given in accordance with New Hampshire law
    • Assist with host scheduling and timekeeping activities
  • Departmental duties:
    • Maintain vast knowledge of rides in designated zone and step in at attractions as required
    • Ensure attractions open or close at proper times per operational needs
    • Provide direct support to other rides hosts by checking on their needs
    • Manage guest feedback and escalated complaints or issues to proper authorities
    • Provide coverage so hosts may take bathroom breaks
    • Enforce park policies, ride restrictions, and ride recommendations
    • Ensure safe operation of rides by adhering to SOPs and training
    • Maintain calmness and professionalism during tense, escalated or emergency situations
    • Report ride-related issues and failures to management promptly
    • Maintain constant vigilance, proactively identify potential hazards, inform leadership of concerns
    • Notify security team or park operator of host or guest injuries or emergencies
    • Perform any other duties assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • No minimum education requirement
    • 1+ year previous supervisory experience desired
    • 1+ season of work experience in the rides department required
    • Previous ride operation experience from other amusement or theme park employers considered
    • Must complete International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) course – no cost to employee
  • Languages
    • Fluent English required;
      Spanish or other bilingual skills a plus
  • Requirements
    • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with New Hampshire Child Labor Laws
    • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Compliance with all uniform policies
    • Safety-oriented mindset and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding ride operation
    • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
    • Guest-focused and works well with other hosts and supervisors
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods of time
  • Reach above shoulders throughout the workday
  • Remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Climb or descend stairs for some coasters, rides, and attractions
  • Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
  • See details of objects that are more than a few feet away
Working Conditions
  • Frequent interaction with a variety of motorized and chain-driven rides and attractions
  • Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, and other weather conditions
  • Frequent exposure to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, vibrations, and heavily populated environments
